The Best Breast Pumps for You Make Life with Your Newborn Even More Simple

by Anne Clarke

An infant should consume only his or her mothers breast milk when hungry for the first six months of his or her life if at all possible. This is exactly why so many women have breast pumps -- because as much as you might want to be an at-home mom, many women must return to work soon after having their babies.

Sometimes, not just any breast pump will do, your breast pump must be just right for you. When my sister had her last baby she received a really high quality breast pump from a close friend who had attended her baby shower. She also had a portable hand pump she and her husband had purchased. The hand pump was uncomfortable for her and not only that, it took way too long to pump her breasts. Manual pumps are less likely to break down, and the popularity of manual or battery-operated pumps are still preferred over newer, high-tech electrical breast pumps.

Other mothers have no qualms with such an electrical device and appreciate its convenience. Much of your decision as to what kind of breast pump to purchase will depend on your personal needs. If you are returning to work before the baby is no longer breastfeeding - or if you simply want to go out and are not sure if the baby will be hungry before you get back, a breast pump is especially handy.

There are two very important purposes for breast pumps:

The fore mentioned purpose is the most important, so that the baby will certainly get fed what he or she needs when he or she needs it.

The latter of the two is, for example, in a situation such as work, when a woman can not leave but her breasts are swelling and perhaps (more often than not) lactating and she must "relieve herself" so to speak.

It is unfortunate, I believe, that well more than 50 percent of the population must rely on a dual income to survive. Often, when a woman has a baby she really has no choice but to go back to work before she is ready. I find it sad that along with liberation comes the one option that a woman may not want after having a child. Nonetheless, this is the world we live in, so breast ? pumps are absolutely essential for mothers who, like most of us, are offered no other choice but to be away from their babies for long periods of time.

You can find great offers on all the different kinds of breast pumps that are currently available if you look online. Get recommendations from people you know and ask your doctor about which type of breast pump would be best for you before you buy. It may be the greatest and, as a matter of fact, the only solution to financial concerns of an expecting mother who cannot take too much time off from work. The breast pump is the perfect answer. All you have to do is purchase the perfect one for you!
